The National delivered a jubilant and cacophonous set at SPIN Magazine’s 25th anniversary concert at Terminal 5.
One huge factor in photographing this show was full-set access. I’ve shot in Terminal 5 many times before and lighting is always a crapshoot. The benefit of full-set access is that you have more time to anticipate band members’ movement and lighting, which always results in stronger images.
My exposure varied significantly, ranging from 1/500 and f/3.5 at ISO 800 when the lights flared to 1/250 and f/2.8 at ISO 3200 in the dark.
