Echo & The Bunnymen – Irving Plaza

Friday the 13th is a notoriously spooky date. So it was the perfect opportunity for English post-punk icons Echo & The Bunnymen to perform their first two albums, Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here, which are both dark and moody.

Photographer’s Notes

This was a very challenging shoot. There was zero front lighting with abundant white backlighting with lots of haze. Sounds strange but this was the darkest bright lighting I’ve ever seen. I tried to catch the occasional strobe blasts but mostly resigned to making silhouettes by exposing for the backlights.

On a personal note, Crocodiles is one of my all-time favorite albums and it was thrilling to hear live.
